Caregiver Training

Here at Rock Rehabilitation, caregiver education and participation is vital to the care we give. It is essential to carry over skills to the home and community environment. Our Caregiver Training series educates your loved ones in the therapeutic process so that they have a full understanding of what you are working on in therapy and receive guidance and training approved from your provider on related training on how to help you progress at home by applying your home exercise program.

LSVT BIG

Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, more specifically a movement disorder, that affects the cells of the brain that control muscle movement. These cells, located deep in a section of the brain called the substantia nigra, produce an important neurotransmitter called dopamine. Dopamine is important because it is the chemical messenger used to send signals from the brain to the muscles to complete smooth, coordinated movements. When 80% of these dopamine-producing cells have died, symptoms of Parkinson’s disease appear. The cause of death of these dopamine-producing cells is still unknown.

Lymphedema

Lymphedema, or lymphatic obstruction, is a long-term condition where excess fluid collects in tissues causing swelling (edema). The condition is caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system, part of the immune and circulatory systems. Lymphedema commonly affects one of the arms or legs. In some cases, both arms or both legs may be affected. Some patients might experience swelling in the head, genitals, or chest. The main symptom is swelling in an arm or leg that may be accompanied by pain or discomfort.

Symptoms

Wellness Program

Rock Rehabilitation provides one-on-one personal training with highly trained staff (therapist or personal trainer), offering the opportunity to have a tailored exercise program with monitoring and education to maximize gains.

Goals

Ergonomic Assessment

Ergonomic assessments are an objective study of how employees work. The assessments help identify the ergonomic risks such as repetitive tasks that can cause strains, improper work area setup, and improper use of tools, which can result in the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

Fall Prevention

Our new Floor Fitness program is designed to help you gain the strength, flexibility, and confidence you need to get on and off the floor with ease. In a group setting, you will work closely with a physical therapist to get comfortable in any position on the floor, learn personalized modifications and strategies to get on and off the floor, and practice exercises that will maximize your strength, flexibility, and independence.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

Rock Rehabilitation specializes in industrial rehabilitation services that support the injured worker to achieve full capacity and strength prior to their return to work. The FCE is a nationally standardized, objective testing protocol to evaluate a worker’s work-related functional limits at the start of treatment, throughout treatment, and at the close of treatment.
The FCE provides a baseline of the worker’s functional level and is an ongoing evaluation of the worker’s progress from injury to recovery. The FCE evaluates the worker’s functional limitations, areas of pain, overall functional abilities, and measures a range of motion, endurance, strength, and tolerance for work-related tasks. The physical therapist works to develop, maintain, and restore daily function and employment-related normal movements in their injured worker, assisting the worker in regaining their prior functional level.
