Therapy Goals
The goal of adulty physical therapy is to prevent or alleviate movement dysfunction, improve mobility, and maximize physical independence and function by:
- Improving strength and endurance
- Restoring normal movement patterns
- Improving overall function and mobility
- Improving gait pattern
- Decreasing fall risk


The goal of adult speech therapy is to improve oral-motor skills for speech and swallowing, language, verbal fluency, voice, and cognitive-linguistic skills by:
- Improving communication
- Enhancing cognitive skills
- Enhancing receptive and expressive language skills
- Improving swallowing
The goal of adult occupational therapy is to improve function and independence in activities of daily living (ADLs), including self-care and community activities by:
- Improving independence in activities of daily living
- Improving instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
- Enhancing gross and fine motor skills
- Improving core and upper extremity strength and flexibility
